Well it appears we just can't get rid of the "generous dock"...Shane and Dan had finally laid it to rest in its original spot where they found if a year ago...then, lo and behold our neighbor Mike wanted to use it for a little firework display and Shaner helped haul it back in. Well, two nights ago we had a huge storm and lightning...the dock was floating dangerously unsecured. I was so afraid a boat might hit it that I asked the kids to please use the fishing Bass boat and try and bring it back in to shore. Well, Keaton got it to the end of our dock , but I was afraid it might float to our neighbors Chuck side. So....Kelli and Courtney went out toegher and took on the task of bringing it to shore...it was quite commical hearing them laugh and scream as the weight of the dock would spin them in circles...the persevered and got it to shore. Steve, another neighbor pulled it with his jet ski and we got back onto our beach...just seems we can't rid ourselves of it.

Coupons and Candles!
Okay, Monday, July 6th was blustery and cloudy. It was definitely a stay in kind of day. Colleen and kiddo's came down to my cabin and Colleen was in her element...with COUPONS! Kelli, Courtney and Kellen assisted her in cutting coupons while she organized them in her BINDER...not a little accordian type coupon holder, but a full on college binder!!

Colleen is seriously sick with her addiction to coupon cutting and shopping. Oh the stories she has told. I am kind of getting the idea, although I have yet to see her in action..I am told it either scares the heck out of you...or you get the bug. She is actually thrilled tomorrow is WED...coupon and store special day..Oh no...help!
The next thing on the daily agenda was a bit of a contest to see just who had the most earwax in their ears. Kellen volunteered to go first. He said there was crackling and a whooshing sound as his mom held a burning candle tube in his ear.

Keaton was second...when it was finished the stinky, gross little round balls of dark ear wax was revealed once Colleen cut the candle tube open...we think Keaton won!! The girls were kind of grossed out by the whole affair. I think it was kind of fun...wish we had more wax tubes, might be that we'll have to stop at the Health store downtown Deer Park and get a couple more....

Family week 4th of July 2009

Chase, Elizabeth, Catherine and Keegan at Shore Acres. Parents wine tasting...kids running a "tab". I think Keegan ate a regular full size dinner and a half order afterwards. Where does he put the food?

Loon Lake Drive 2009

This is Kim, Shane and Dan outside where he will work inside the Cub!!

Please note the tall Pine tree on the point in the picture to the right. Yesterday we watched a young juvenile Bald Eagle scoop down and catch a fish...his parent was posted high in the Pine tree above my nephew Chris' trailer in the pine. It was so amazing to see this beautiful sight!

Tour of California Race, little 'ol Escondido!
I have no idea if you can read what was written on the curbside before the race, but a handicapped person came by, leaned down and with yellow chalk wrote "LIVE STRONG" which of course is Lance Armstrong's charity saying. I do wish you could read it...sorry.
At noon we walked a short three block and saw the bikers pass only 45 minutes from their start in Rancho Bernardo and only a couple of miles from the start of their incline on Lake Wohlford road to Valley Center.
We scrambled and went downtown Escondido where we met a LARGE crowd of people who turned out to support this event. It was thrilling to see such a great turnout for Escondido during these hard economic times.
I took pictures and I hope you'll enjoy a little bit of what we enjoyed today! Do you remember my last blog showing snow on Mt. Palomar? Well, today there was still some snow there according to the news broadcast.
